What should I know before a trip to China?
In China the plan runs on China Mobile with 5G. Traffic is routed through Singapore, so Google, WhatsApp and Instagram, which are blocked on local Chinese networks, usually work without a VPN.
Almost everything in China is paid with Alipay or WeChat Pay, and both now accept foreign cards. Taxis are booked through DiDi, which is also available inside Alipay. Install and set up the apps before you leave home.

Are eSIM, digital SIM, and virtual SIM all the same thing?
Yes. An eSIM (also called a digital SIM or virtual SIM) is a SIM with no physical component, installed on your device by scanning a QR code instead of inserting a card. You use it exactly like a regular SIM for data abroad, without hunting for a SIM kiosk at your destination.
Does my device support eSIM technology?
Most smartphones released in the last five years support eSIM. We recommend checking your device settings, or looking up your phone model in the FlySim compatibility checker. Open the compatibility checker
How exactly does activation work?
After payment, you'll receive a unique QR code by email. Scan it in your device's cellular settings (Add eSIM), confirm, and that's it.
