A Thailand eSIM costs from $2.26 (3GB for 15 days) to $11.65 (20GB for 30 days). There's also an unlimited plan at $3.24 a day, for 3 to 90 days. Validity starts on your first connection in Thailand, not on the day you buy, and your home number stays active for WhatsApp. You can share data over hotspot. Plans are data only; calls go through WhatsApp or other apps.

Thailand works well both for a short trip and for a longer stay as a digital nomad. If you're staying beyond your first plan's validity, just buy another plan through the same process — no need to hunt for a SIM shop a second time.

What should I know before a trip to Thailand?

In Thailand the plan runs on the country's two largest networks, AIS and DTAC, both on 5G. The difference shows mostly in the south: AIS is generally steadier along the ferry route between Koh Samui and Koh Phangan and on smaller islands such as Koh Tao, Koh Lipe and Koh Lanta, while DTAC performs well in the main tourist areas of Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Phuket.

Most city rides are booked through Grab or Bolt — Uber doesn't operate in Thailand — so it helps to have data working as soon as you leave the terminal. One more thing that needs a connection before you even land: since May 2025 every visitor fills in the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) on the immigration bureau's official site, free of charge and up to three days before arrival.

Which networks does the Thailand eSIM use?

AIS and DTAC, the two largest networks in Thailand, both with 5G. Your phone connects to whichever is stronger.

Is AIS or DTAC better on the Thai islands?

AIS is generally steadier on smaller islands such as Koh Tao, Koh Lipe and Koh Lanta, and on the ferry route between Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. DTAC performs well in the main tourist areas of Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Phuket. The plan includes both.

I'm staying longer than 30 days. What do I do?

Buy another plan from this page when the first one runs out and install it the same way. There's no need to visit a SIM shop in Thailand.

Do I need data before landing in Thailand?

It helps. Every visitor fills in the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before arrival, and rides from the airport are booked through Grab or Bolt, since Uber doesn't operate in Thailand.

Are eSIM, digital SIM, and virtual SIM all the same thing?

Yes. An eSIM (also called a digital SIM or virtual SIM) is a SIM with no physical component, installed on your device by scanning a QR code instead of inserting a card. You use it exactly like a regular SIM for data abroad, without hunting for a SIM kiosk at your destination.

Does my device support eSIM technology?

Most smartphones released in the last five years support eSIM. We recommend checking your device settings, or looking up your phone model in the FlySim compatibility checker. Open the compatibility checker

How exactly does activation work?

After payment, you'll receive a unique QR code by email. Scan it in your device's cellular settings (Add eSIM), confirm, and that's it.
