A Italy eSIM costs from $1.29 (3GB for 20 days) to $9.38 (20GB for 30 days). There's also an unlimited plan at $1.94 a day, for 3 to 90 days. Validity starts on your first connection in Italy, not on the day you buy, and your home number stays active for WhatsApp. You can share data over hotspot. Plans are data only; calls go through WhatsApp or other apps.
The classic Italian route — Rome, Florence, Venice — runs through major cities with dense cellular coverage, making an eSIM especially convenient for navigation, restaurant bookings, and real-time translation along the way.

What should I know before a trip to Italy?
In Italy the plan runs on three networks: TIM, Wind and Iliad, all on 5G. Many travelers continue from Italy into neighboring Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia or France — note that Switzerland isn't in the EU, and if it's on your route, the Europe plan (which includes the Swiss networks Salt and Sunrise) covers all of these countries in one plan.
Travel between cities is mostly by train, and Trenitalia and Italo tickets can be bought and shown in their apps. If you're renting a car, watch out for ZTL zones — limited-traffic areas in the historic centers of many cities, where entering without a permit means a fine.

Which networks does the Italy eSIM use?
TIM, Wind and Iliad, all with 5G. Your phone connects to whichever is strongest.
Does the Italy eSIM work in Switzerland?
No. Switzerland isn't covered by this plan. If your route includes Switzerland, the Europe plan covers Italy and Switzerland (on Salt and Sunrise) together, with 33 more countries.
Does it work on Sicily, Sardinia and the Amalfi Coast?
Yes. The plan covers all of Italy, including the islands, wherever TIM, Wind or Iliad have signal.
Is there an unlimited data plan for Italy?
Yes. The unlimited plan is priced per day, from 3 to 90 days, with full-speed data up to 3GB a day and a lower speed after that. Hotspot may not work on it.
Are eSIM, digital SIM, and virtual SIM all the same thing?
Yes. An eSIM (also called a digital SIM or virtual SIM) is a SIM with no physical component, installed on your device by scanning a QR code instead of inserting a card. You use it exactly like a regular SIM for data abroad, without hunting for a SIM kiosk at your destination.
Does my device support eSIM technology?
Most smartphones released in the last five years support eSIM. We recommend checking your device settings, or looking up your phone model in the FlySim compatibility checker. Open the compatibility checker
How exactly does activation work?
After payment, you'll receive a unique QR code by email. Scan it in your device's cellular settings (Add eSIM), confirm, and that's it.
